Freshly off from their Czech tour with Dr. LIVING DEAD celebrated by the release of the highly-praised split LP with INTERMENT (already released by, you’ve guessed it, DOOMENTIA), BRUTALLY DECEASED have wasted no time bowing once again in front of the old Swedeath altar. While some hide behind so-called progressive tags and others deny the evidence, the quintet have never denied what their goal was from day one and ‘Black Infernal Vortex’ is once again no exception!
Recorded at the Davos studio last April like all their previous releases and still boosting former and current members of various veterans of the Czech extreme metal scene such as JIG-AI, HEAVING EARTH, or PSYCHOTIC DESPAIR, those nine brand new songs take the heritage of their 2010’s debut ‘Dead Lovers’ Guide’ and run with it further down the abyss. Its striking cover designed by Paolo Girardi (BLAPSHEMOPHAGER, INQUISITION, CRAVEN IDOL etc.) is the perfect reflection of what those thirty minutes have in store, a totally uncompromised, raging and raw-as-fuck take on the classic sound of the Swedish school of death, yet with its own rabid-like flair. Old-school it may be but alive, well and ready to kill it is!
A corrosive mix of death, doom, psychedelia, and black metal, the Portland quartet’s debut full-length is a bona fide underground monolith that shapeshifts with each listen, all while maintaining its essential heaviness. Bandcamp Album of the Day Feb 1, 2019
